The Cabinet decision to revamp its curriculum is practically an admission that the accusations leveled against the Bureau by past participants have been true. Nazri further admitted that the co-curriculum is against the PM’s 1 Malaysia concept. The Selangor government is therefore justified and exonerated for having made the decision not to send their state sponsored students to the course. What a sham this has been. Even a few umno ministers, without checking their facts, had blindly declared that the course was non-racial and non-discriminatory. I wonder what they have to say now. These Umno ministers, never think first before opening their mouths.
From this event we further see the need of a strong opposition and that the BN must never be given its 2/3 majority in Parliament to prevent them from abusing their powers.
But wait a minute, as I penned the above, news have come in that the govt. had flip-flopped on its decision. According to the BTN chief, Datuk Ahmad Maslan, they are not going to revamp the curriculum but to upgrade it. Whether revamp or upgrade, the action taken will achieve the same result, and that is to remove all the racial and discriminatory contents as those were the main complaints about the course. It is the Kiasu syndrome that is being exposed as those in power just cannot bear to be seen as giving in to the Opposition.
