Another young Millionaire in the Making?

Rahimi Osman (standing) - a nobody is now a star  in a new episode of the Anwar Saga. So if you want to become a famous personality, all you got to do is say something bad about Anwar, better still, make a police report, then a have a press conference, and hey presto, you are famous, and a millionaire overnight. What is his story?
Well, 2 years ago, to be exact, 28 June 2008, he had made a SD that implicated the involvement of Najib and his wife in the sodomy ll case. Then suddenly out of the blue, he made a police report a day ago claiming that he was coerced into making that declaration, and the coercion was done by 2 PKR lawyers, Lathheefa Koya & Saiful Izham Ramli. Yes, two years later and it has a tinge of dejavu - as in the case of Teoh Boon Hock, when it was evident that macca was losing the case when suddenly a suicide note was introduced- a year later. Don't these umno goons have better script than to follow an old one? And again they get a young gullible nut to put on the show and again, it was done just before a by-election.  Sheeeesh, the story is so preditable. Its amazing how these people can sleep in peace at night.

WHAT IS OUR COUNTRY COMING TO?

What is our country coming to? You dont see justice even in a simple open and shut case. The anger wells up in you and you just want to yell out all the curses.
The practice of double standards is so obvious that even a child can see it being done. Whatever wrong the umno and its goons do, the authorities will pussy foot with their investigations and even if investigations are carried out, the outcome is inevitable - not enough evidence, action misunderstood, its a personal opinion and therefore NFA. Its amazing how they can come up with all kinds of wierd excuses NOT TO prosecute. The umno government should create a department where excuses are readily available. Even when SD, documents or reports are presented as evidence of corruption and fraud, as those exposed by RPK, the authorities are still not doing anything about them. Similarly, the evidence and reports of racial slurs by the two principals are so over-whelming and conclusive and yet they go after Namewee whose only fault was the usage of obscene words. Then you have the perkasa samsengs lighting up in a public place. Wasn't it a security threat? What if a spark had been blown and landed on something inflammable? And yet the police not only did nothing but allowed them 40 minutes to do their dangerous act. How many minutes did the police give the candle-light vigilers at the Amcorp Mall.? Hardly 10 minutes and then chased them and trapped them in the Mall, afterwhich  they went in to search and arrest and dragged them out like common criminals. Compared to the leeway they gave  the perkasa demonstrators, HOW NOT TO BE ANGRY? And you want us to respect the Police!

Disputes over Hungry ghost festivals noise settled amicably.

I can't really recall when it was that I last read a piece of good news about racial harmony in my beloved country. Ever since the tsunami of the 12 GE, there have been one bad news after another, And when Perkasa came into the picture , the situation worsened.
But now with this latest news on how two communities of different cultures could come together to discuss a common problem, is like a breath of fresh air and thus giving hope that there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel.
I am of course referring to the meeting of the Chinese and Muslim communities to discuss ways to resolve issues of disturbance caused by the “noisy and sexy” ge tai performances in Penang.

I am really happy and that there are still matured and intelligent people like Mohideen Abdul Kadir, (picture) whose advice and wisdom should be emulated by all those who love this country and whose only wish is to live harmoniously with each other.
In the meeting, he declared that "Dialogue is the best way to solve these kinds of issues; do not keep your dissatisfaction in your hearts, otherwise it will be manipulated by someone bad the next day.”

He further added that “We want to continue this (kind of) dialogue. We live in a multicultural society; problems will occur from time to time, but we do not want to argue or quarrel. Lets sit down and discuss to find the best solution.”

Bonsification of the Malay Mind by Hishamuddin Rias

I wouldn't say that all the Malay minds have been bonsified, but only those belonging to the umnos and their followers. They are really scared to lose everything, and they are surely creating "hantus' to frighten the ordinery Malay folks into submission. Maybe we should take Hishamuddin's advice and have sympathy for them.
 

"Nah" is Vulgar, but Effect is Achieved.

There have been varied comments regarding Namwee's vulgarity in his U-tube posting of his video clip "Nah". One comment pointed out that while the issue of racism is a much hated topic, resorting to vulgarity is not the way.
First, it must be pointed out that it was mainly because of the government's inaction over racist remarks utterred by the various ultras that has prompted Namwee to come out with his piece. Too many racist remarks had been spewed by the likes of Ibrahim Ali, Riduan Tee Abdullah and Utusan Melayu, and they are still walking the streets. Many of us feel the anger and frustration for not being able to do anything.  But it was Namwee who was able to put our feelings into words.
Lets face it. Would the authorities have taken note if he had written it otherwise? While I agree that the language used was rather vulgar & crude, but it has achieved its effect. They have taken note and are now in a bind with regards to the 2 heads who utterred racist remarks. Anyway enough is enough. There must be a stop to this double standard, selective persecution and prosecution.
In short, you can never get through these people with nice words.

UM Ranking sank deeper.

According to the latest report released by the prestigious 2010 QS World University Rankings, University Malaya (UM) has slipped from 180 to 207. It has now dropped out from the top 200  rankings. Similarly University Teknologi Malaysia dropped to 365 from 320. However 3 Universities saw slight improvements in their rankings. Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia(UKM) went up from 291 to 263,  Universiti Sains Malaysia(USM) from 314 to 309 and University Putra Malaysia(UPM) from 345 to 319.
Now let's hear what the Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed, has to say about this.
First, he said that "it was normal to see fluctuation in the rankings."
Fluctuation, yes, but shouldn't he be more concerned with the level on which they are fluctuating? We  are fluctuating at the lower end.
"We do not want to be too obsessive about world rankings."
Yeah right. But when there is a report on improvements in any field, there will be rave reviews and highlights in the mass media.
"It is like comparing apples and oranges." because "conditions and environments of other universities are different from ours."
What is he talking about? I thought we are a progressive nation heading towards a developed nation  in 9 years time. We have all the necessary  conditions and environments to be the centre of learning. But what have we got? the crumbs that are left behind. The brains have left our shores for places where their talents are appreciated and rewarded. Those who are left behind are peope like our infamous macc lawyer who is an embarrassment to our education system and low class politician who can only shout "shit, shit, shit." Is it any wonder why our university rankings have plummeted? 

Declare yourself fit and healthy before entering a Police Station

"I am mentally healthy, I have no injuries and I will not commit suicide." That's what Namewee told the reporters before he entered the Taman Tun Dr. Ismail police station in  connection with a probe whether he had committed sedition over a video song he posted on the U-tube. He should have added "and I wont jump out of any window".
Really, we have now come to this stage that before entering a police station or an macc building, we must declare ourselves fit and of sound mind. What has become of our police force? They are supposed to be our protectors, but here again, from what we have heard of past cases, it is better to play safe than to put our whole trust in the police.
